Public Viewing Nights
The Toronto Centre runs evening astronomy outreach programs to let you know about advances in astronomy and space science. On clear nights from late spring through the fall months, you'll be able to look through the 74” telescope and check out the view through smaller amateur telescopes out on the lawn. Toronto Centre volunteers are available to answer questions from guests of all ages. Because space is limited, we ask that you order your tickets ahead of time.
Meteor Showers
These special nights are wonderful opportunities for families to come out to the DDO, lie back and watch meteors streaking across the sky. We’ll conduct views through the telescope, have knowledgeable speakers and provide family activities to create an exciting evening under the stars.
Special Event Nights
Throughout the year, we'll be holding special community sessions to coincide with space related events and milestones. This includes (safely) viewing eclipses and comets.
Teacher Training Workshops
We will be delivering workshops to Ontario science teachers to equip them with the current knowledge, skills and experience needed to effectively present astronomy and space science topics to their classrooms. Building on the Grades 3, 6 and 9 Ontario astronomy curriculum we'll give teachers the tools they need to make astronomy and space science the highlight of their students' year. Contact us for INFO
